Work. Work work work. When my husband was going to school at the beginning of our marriage, I only had time for my 3 terrible jobs. They weren't much fun, but we could scrape by while Bobby got his Aircraft Mechanic license. Life was a grind and I remember a moment on the phone with a friend, bemoaning my long days, "All I want to do is to just make crafts ALL DAY."
Fast forward a bit, and we had moved to Alabama. My husband told me to take a break from working and we tried to start a family. Infertility reared its ugly head for years and years, so I spent my days doing exactly what I wanted to do: Make crafts ALL DAY!
I started a little blog called "Oops I Craft My Pants" where I chronicled all of my creations. That first year, I did not miss a single day and had 365 blog posts, each sharing a new thing I had made. A not-so-serious Etsy shop followed, so I could destash all those creations.
One fateful day in 2011, I was reading "Wicked" by Gregory Macguire and I had the idea to make a bookmark featuring the iconic Ruby Slippers and striped black and white stockings of the Wicked Witch of the East. The legs would look like they got crushed in the book! So, like any other idea, I set out to make them. I was happy with my bookmark, so I shared the project along with photos to my favorite crafting forum, Craftster.org. The picture went viral, people wanted to buy my bookmarks and the rest is history.
Since that day, six years and 2 baby boys later, I'm still crafting whenever I can and running my Etsy shop with the help of my husband here in Alabama! Thanks for reading my story and I hope you will have a great experience in my shop :)
